Covenant of Marriage

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh”.

Genesis 2:22-23

What a wonderful plan for the man and woman who have been chosen to come together and through God’s blessing become one; one flesh.  What does it mean to become “one flesh” according to the inspired writing of the Lord?

One flesh or in other words, one accord, is a supernatural state of living through the manifestation of God’s Holy Spirit living in and through our marriage.

This truth from God’s word to live as one; in one accord, can only come into being when the man and women chosen for this ministry come together with the sole purpose of glorifying the Lord through their love, dedication and sacrifice to another.

To live as one in our marriage means to completely surrender first to our Lord and Savior Jesus and, secondly to our spouse.  To obtain the oneness God has called for us to experience in our marriage will bring much peace, joy and love into our marriage and home.

This oneness takes patience, kindness, & much love to obtain, but it is one of the most precious institutions God has created.  When we say “I do” or “I will” in our wedding vows, it is only the beginning of the true oneness process that must take place in our marriages in order to fulfill God’s perfect plan for our marriage.    These two small words yet profound in meaning, are the start of a life that humbly submits; first to the Lord, then to our spouse, so that He will be able to manifest Himself in and through our marriage.

Remember “Oneness” takes time and is a process,  “With God all things are possible” (Luke 1:37); for this is His will for every marriage that invites Him in to their marriage ministry.

What areas in your marriage need a “oneness” transformation?

Surrender it to the Lord, pray for your spouse and for yourself to achieve all that God has for your precious marriage.

Be strong in the Lord,
